Plenum pulled, battery & tray removed, battery neg terminal bracket removed for working room. Removed all the firewall brackets behind the engine holding the harness in place, except for the one nearest the firewall hole... I pulled the top 10mm nut and bent the bracket over & down. Several 10mm normal & ratcheting wrenches, long 10mm 1/4 drive ratchet with pivoting head and a 10 mm wrench taped to a paint stir stick to reach waaay down.

Taped up the old harness with black electrical tape... duct tape snags, don't use it... as far up as I could from the ECU connector up inside the passenger footwell as this allows the old harness to be pulled out without cutting it. Depinned the large white connector, noted the wiring and taped them flat into bundle groups. Pulled the harness with an assistant pushing up. Done.

Taped up the new harness, ensuring that the black protective boot was tight against the harness so it won't hang up on anything. Depinned the large white clip, noting the wiring and taping it into bundles. Removed the white shield from the blue ECU connector and wrapped everything tight with electrical tape, bending the blue connector 90 degrees to lead in straight.

Got a 3' 3/8" drive extension, bent the firewall hole outwards on the bottom to improve access. Fed the new harness ECU connector first behind the engine from the driver's side. Pulled it through and rough positioned it behind the engine. Pulled a bit more past to allow a little extra to feed into the cabin. Started pushing it into the firewall hole, aiming downwards and to the left as facing the firewall, working it with the 3/8' extension to push the harness further down and twisting it side to side as it went in. Assistant got a hold of the leading edge of the clip and also pulled and twisted as I pushed down with the extension. Fed it through in about 5 minutes. pushed the firewall hole back using a prybar. Seated the rubber boot on the firewall.

Replaced all the shields... this is where tilting the engine forward would be helpful. This was the longest part of the whole affair. Unwrapped the tape inside the footwell. Replaced the white connector pins.

Beer.

Cheers,
